In Matthew 6: 5-15 Jesus gives His disciples instructions concerning Alms (things you give to others) and Prayer. On Alms He says for you not to brag about what you have done, keep it a secret and your reward will be stored up in heaven.
Verse 7 says "And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition, as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words. Mt. 6:8, Therefore do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need, before you ask Him.
In verses 9-15 Jesus tells the disciples how to pray, He says, "Pray, then in this way: Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done, On earth as it is in heaven, Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
In Mt 6: 14 & 15 Jesus gives an explanation on forgiveness in that He says, "For if you forgive men for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.But is you do not forgive men, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions.
These passages of scripture really lets us know how important it is to be willing, ready and able to forgive others for if we do not we cannot expect our heavenly Father to forgive us of the things that we do that are not pleasing to Him.
